Why I Love F·R·I·E·N·D·S

F·R·I·E·N·D·S, as we know it, is one of the most popular and most sought-after sitcoms in history. Even up to this day a lot of people still watch it as if it were made in this generation. For those that aren’t familiar with F·R·I·E·N·D·S, here is a quick background:

F·R·I·E·N·D·S (created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman) is an American sitcom which aired on NBC from 1994 – 2004 primarily starring Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green, Courteney Cox as Monica Geller, Lisa Kudrow as Phoebe Buffay, David Schwimmer as Ross Geller (Monica’s older brother) , Matt LeBlanc as Joey Tribbiani and Matthew Perry as Chandler Bing. It’s about this particular group of friends who are living in Manhattan that go through the challenging journey of life in their 20’s – 30’s and like most of us, they are trying to make sense of themselves; each going through their own ups and downs when it comes to “adulting”. They love hanging out in this cafe, Central Perk, which is one of the main settings of the show aside from Monica’s inherited apartment and Chandler & Joey’s apartment across from Monica’s. The show lasted for ten seasons and was renowned with recognition and awards a plenty.

The main reason why I love F·R·I·E·N·D·S so much is because it is so realistic. They do not sugarcoat anything. I mean, life isn’t always good and it (life) doesn’t always or maybe never turns out the way we expected it to. Life is full of disappointment, heart break and fear. But in F·R·I·E·N·D·S , you also see how the characters, all with distinct personalities, get past each stone thrown at them. They deal with it and work around it. This show taught me that life isn’t stopping for anybody, cliche as it may sound. We also get to see optimism revolving around this special group of people; that they can overcome anything because they will always be there for each other. F·R·I·E·N·D·S is a show full of realizations, humor and true love.

If you haven’t watched it yet, I suggest you do. Prepare for tummy-painful laughs, crying inside (or actual crying with tears) and most of all, I hope you find inspiration from this show as I have.
